Mattee DeMott (b. 2003) is an American painter and multi-media artist from the Midwest. She received her BFA in Painting at Grand Valley State University (2026).
DeMott's practice explores the human perception of self through the ecological lens of the creepy crawly. Her paintings often depict the commonly overlooked or disregarded species of our planet, exalting the gross in rich jewel tones and extravagant framing. DeMott works to call attention the animals and insects of the world that are often misrepresented by broader media and culture, that sees bugs as nothing more than pests.
