Mattee DeMott (b. 2003) was born and raised in West Michigan where she is currently obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts with an emphasis in painting. 

Her practice consists of multimedia painting and illustrations that glorify the disgusting and misrepresented parts of nature. Being raised in West Michigan, surrounded by wildlife but simultaneously seeing the negative impacts of human experience on the landscape, her work formed out of the desperate need for representation of the ignored. DeMott works to call attention to the animals and insects of the world that are often misrepresented by broader media and culture, that sees bugs as nothing more than pests.
