Comfort of a Lover investigates the safety and connection found within queer relationships.  Through the collection of secondhand materials and a direct confrontation with animalistic reproduction, this piece works to recreate the patchwork nature of love and its complexities. This piece harps on the profound connection formed within many queer relationships and the community infrastructure these relationships provide beyond a romantic dynamic. The process of assembling these materials speaks to the gradual accumulation one experiences within a relationship, identifying pieces of a significant other and intertwining them with oneself. Rippled like bedding that has just been abandoned, the background establishes a home for the insects reproducing in the foreground, creating the safe space many individuals yearn for. While the mosaic of the background has more specificity, the anonymity of an insect allows everyone to identify themselves within the piece, as the significance of connection far transcends gender, sexuality, or species.
